Have you ever asked your self the question β βIs the Internet down?β
DiamondCS NetCheck allows you to quickly and easily test the status of your Internet connection by attempting one (or more) DNS resolve and TCP connection tests. Simply run the program and press the Start button to activate the tests. The DNS test allows NetCheck to test if your system can currently resolve Internet addresses to their respective numeric IP addresses, and the TCP test determines if your system is able to connect to servers on the Internet.
The sites (and number of sites) that NetCheck uses are defined in the netcheck.ini file, and thus are fully configurable (including TCP port). Here is the netcheck.ini file that corresponds with the above screenshot (you can change and add to it as you see fit):
[Config]
NumDNS=2
NumTCP=2
DNS1=www.google.com
DNS2=www.microsoft.com
TCP1=www.google.com:80
TCP2=www.microsoft.com:80
Tips for best results β¦
- Use a server from your Internet Service Provider as the first server for both TCP and DNS tests.
- Use a numeric IP address as one of the TCP tests so that even if DNS fails the TCP test can still try to proceed.
- Use a couple of well-known and reliable Internet servers from around the world to test that you can reach the deep Internet.
